Modernizing Campus Technology

Luther Park Community partnered with Saltech Systems to modernize and maintain the technology across its senior living campus: four residential buildings and an administration building. The goal was to replace costly subscription-based systems with infrastructure Luther Park owns outright, strengthen resident safety and campus security, and bring aging technology up to date. The result is a modern, secure and fee-free technology environment built to support residents and staff for years to come.

The Challenge

Luther Park’s technology was tied to expensive annual licensing, aging workstations and outdated phone systems. When the vendor for its critical JNL resident safety system refused to support it, the community was left without anyone to maintain the systems residents depend on every day.

The Vision

Saltech Systems took a campus-wide approach. We moved Luther Park off pay-to-use platforms and onto owned infrastructure, expanded security coverage, modernized communications, and stepped in to take over the JNL system.

Our Approach

Network Ownership & Cost Reduction

Luther Park’s Meraki network carried yearly licensing fees that cost more than an entirely new network. Saltech migrated the campus to a Unifi network that Luther Park now owns outright, with no ongoing fees. The new network delivers 2x faster external speeds and 10x faster internal speeds, with all routing moved to Layer 3 to prevent congestion. The annual savings alone are roughly equal to the cost of the new network.

Campus-Wide Security & Access

Saltech installed more than 90 indoor and 10 outdoor AI-powered cameras across the campus, giving staff broad visibility of common areas, entrances and grounds. The cameras can send real-time alerts using AI and let staff quickly search footage to find and review incidents. A new door access system was also installed in the administration building to control and monitor entry.

Resident Safety Systems

When Luther Park’s JNL vendor refused to service the system, Saltech learned it from the ground up. We now support the full JNL platform: nurse call, staff radios, pull cords, wander guard, door controllers and access. We also integrated it with the community’s existing doors so these life-safety systems work together.

Communications & Workstations

Saltech converted Luther Park’s traditional telephone lines to VoIP and moved faxing to eFax, reducing costs and simplifying communication. Workstations running Windows 7 and Windows 10 were upgraded to Windows 11, so every device is secure and fully supported.

Conclusion

Through its partnership with Saltech Systems, Luther Park Community replaced costly, rented technology with modern infrastructure it fully owns. Saltech’s work strengthened campus security and kept critical resident safety systems supported when no one else would. It also modernized communications and workstations, leaving Luther Park with a secure, fee-free foundation to care for its residents.
