Project Brief: The Beginning Farmer Center created the AgLink program to facilitate the transition of farming operations from established farmers to beginning farmers. AgLink provides new farmers a chance to connect with retiring farmers and farmland owners, start conversations, and locate farming opportunities. In addition to AgLink, the Beginning Farmer Center develops educational programming and resources on farm transition and succession planning.
Our Solution: We used WordPress to develop a custom solution for the AgLink program. The website allows farmers and farm landowners to register online, and then post their land and/or work that that they have available. Users can search through posts using a custom search functionality, to find exactly what they’re looking for. A built in messaging system allows farmers to connect and start conversations.
